It is a strange gathering, this blended family we created. I imagine in pioneer days it would be more common for families to live with each other, sharing resources and working together to survive, but in this day and age, where houses are three bedrooms and families consist of the parental units and the 2.5 children, it seems odd that three families would come together for one purpose and find so much reward and learn so many life lessons.
I and my daughter live in the nanny house. This is a temporary living quarters, but unfortunately the scene of where my mid-life crisis is occurring and where Hali is learning to launch after college. There is a rumor that we will be moving into our own place in two months, but I believe it will be too late for me. I am going to collapse in a vat of chocolate, and swim away on a river of chai latte.
The great thing is the cliques that are forming due to the blending of our families. There is the yarn club (where all participants learn to knit or crochet), the sit on the mulch with wine and greet the neighbors meeting, the weekly library club, the paper doll group, the xbox boys club and I am scared of James support group and my favorite, the sorority club which meets in the laundry room to discuss whatever crisis is looming.
We are using the team blog to express ourselves, discuss the life lessons, vent and learn about this amazing family we have created.
